Dreams in the attic

BoldHow many of you had a dream about your future when you were young and couldn’t pursue it later?
Many would say “I have”, wat’s the reason behind this? One of the main reasons for this is parents, if a parent is a doctor, he wants his son also to be one, and same goes with engineers, accountants etc, but what about the child? What about his dreams? Everything is shattered due to the child’s parents.
But in most cases blaming the parents would be unfair. Imagine what if the same parent who forces his child to choose the career that he chose for the child was forced by his father the same way? So he just wants to achieve the goals he dreamt of achieving when he was young but couldn’t achieve through his children, he just wants his child to be well positioned in the society, but in the process he fails to remember his child’s dream and feelings. In some cases finance will be a major problem, imagine a middle aged parent around 40-45 years and imagine if his child wants to be a pilot and the basic cost for this is around 2.5 million Rs. The father has to support himself and the family first, I mean he will be in the budding stage of his career and he wouldn’t be able to produce that kind of money, so he is forced to change his child’s career much against the child’s wishes.
The other set of children are those pampered princes who get what they want when they want, these children are given full freedom by their parents in the hope that they understand life more by gaining experience, but how far will this freedom work? When there is no one to question the child, what will he do? In all these cases the child will prosper only when he has self realization of what is wrong and what is right, but in most of the cases they don’t have it and at the end they jeopardize their life, and in some cases the child goes awry with the newly found freedom but once he has suffered from that he begins to realize the reality and will prosper no matter what obstacles he face.
The other major problem we face in our child’s career is the method of teaching we follow in the sub-continent. The time for selecting candidates according to their academic records is over, what our children need at this stage is skill based education. We should encourage our children to pursue what they want, and by that we can know in what area he is strong and in what skills he can be enhanced in. See for example if you start a company and it goes well for some time and when the business goes bad you can’t allow some dumb business man selling onions in Africa to takeover your company, to prevent this you should have the skill to keep your company afloat in rough times and you should also have a basic finance knowledge, you can’t keep on spending what you earn, so everyone must know where and when to invest and in what to invest.
So if your dreams are stacked in the attic and if it’s too late, don’t worry, you have come a long way in life to change it and never let your child’s dreams thrown there even if he’s interested in photography, let it be. After all it’s our children's happiness is what makes us happy.

And as usual I don’t know how you like this blog but if it’s bad am sorry guys for this horrible experience.
And I would dedicate this blog to my father, my mother, my aunt, my uncle and my cousins who all stand by me for each decision I take and especially my father who gave me so much freedom that I failed once and made me realize what life is and still gives me the freedom to choose what I want, and to my mother who stands by me through all the bad decisions i take.
And a special mention to my friends who support me whenever I’m in trouble and who made me realize who I’m and what I’m, thanks guys.
Dream, because dream leads to thoughts,
Thoughts lead to character,
And your character forms your life,
So never stop dreaming...
